|Emmy-winning producer Dick Wolf ("Law & Order," "New York Undercover") will be honored with the 1997 TV Showmanship Award at the 35th annual Publicists Guild of America Awards Luncheon set for March 20 at the Beverly Hilton hotel.|
"Dick is being recognized for his exceptional track record as a creator-producer of police and legal drama series," said Henri Bollinger of the Publicists Guild. "He is also being acknowledged for ... often taking controversial positions on matters dealing with censorship that threaten TV writers' and producers' freedom of expression."
Past honorees of the TV Showmanship Award include producers Norman Lear, David E. Kelley, Steven Bochco, Fred Silverman, Aaron Spelling and Garry Marshall, plus Bob Hope, CBS Entertainment prexy Les Moonves, ex-ABC Entertainment head Ted Harbert, C3 chief Rich Frank and former NBC chairman Grant Tinker.
As previously announced, the Motion Picture Showmanship Award is being given to producer Brian Grazer.
